Accessibility Statement

What we’ve done

Accessibility is built into how the site is constructed. Measures in place include:

• ✓ Semantic HTML. Pages use meaningful landmarks and a logical heading hierarchy so screen readers can navigate structure.
• ✓ Skip links. A “skip to content” link lets keyboard users bypass repeated navigation.
• ✓ Keyboard navigation. Interactive elements are reachable and operable with a keyboard, with visible focus states.
• ✓ Color contrast. Text and interactive elements are designed to meet WCAG AA contrast ratios against their backgrounds.
• ✓ Alternative text. Meaningful images carry descriptive alt text, and decorative images are hidden from assistive technologies.

How we assess conformance

Contrast is measured programmatically rather than judged by eye. An automated audit renders every indexable page, extracts each foreground/background colour pairing actually produced by the stylesheet, and computes its WCAG relative-luminance contrast ratio against the AA thresholds — 4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text and graphical objects. The audit runs against the same compiled stylesheet the site serves, so it cannot pass on a stale build.

We deliberately keep no allowlist of accepted contrast failures. A finding is either fixed or it is disclosed below; there is no third category in which it quietly stops counting.

Known limitations

As of the date above, the automated contrast audit reports no AA contrast failures on the public pages. The one substantive finding from the previous audit has been fixed at the source: the muted text colour used for captions and secondary labels was 2.85:1 on white — below AA — and was darkened to a value measuring 5.10:1 on white and 4.89:1 on our light background. Because it was corrected as a design token rather than page by page, the fix applied everywhere that colour is used at once.

Limitations we are still open about:

• Automated testing has limits. Contrast, landmark structure, and alternative text can be measured; whether a chart’s description conveys what a sighted reader takes from it cannot. We have not yet commissioned an independent audit or formal assistive-technology user testing.
• Data visualisations. Backtest charts carry text descriptions and the underlying figures appear in adjacent prose, but a complex equity curve is inherently harder to convey non-visually. Ask us for any figure in another format and we will provide it.
• Third-party and embedded content. Payment checkout, email opt-in forms, and analytics are supplied by external providers whose markup we do not control and cannot fully remediate. Where such content blocks a task, contact us and we will complete it with you another way.
• Documents. Any PDF we publish is generated from the same HTML as the web page; where a PDF is less navigable than its web equivalent, the web page is authoritative.
