Disclaimer

Effective date: June 5, 2026

ETFWealthIQ is an educational publisher. We produce research about portfolio construction methodologies, backtested model portfolios, and investment concepts. We are not a registered investment adviser, portfolio manager, or financial planner, and nothing on this site is personalized investment advice. Please read the disclaimers below in full before relying on any content.

Required disclaimers

The following four disclaimers apply to all model portfolios, backtests, and performance data published on ETFWealthIQ.

Primary disclaimer

ETFWealthIQ provides financial education only. Model portfolios are illustrative examples presented for educational purposes and are not personalized investment recommendations. ETFWealthIQ is not a registered investment adviser, portfolio manager, or financial planner. Past performance of model portfolios does not guarantee future results. Before making any investment decision, consult with a qualified financial professional who understands your individual circumstances, goals, and risk tolerance.

Backtest disclaimer

All historical performance data represents backtested results computed by open-source software (Boutquin.Trading) using actual historical index and ETF return data. Backtested performance is hypothetical and does not represent actual trading. The source code used to generate these results is publicly available for audit. Actual investment results may differ materially. Past performance is not indicative of future results.

Canadian investors

This educational content does not constitute investment advice under Canadian securities law. The provision of investment advice in Canada requires registration with provincial securities regulators, which ETFWealthIQ does not hold.

Open-source software

The Boutquin.Trading backtesting engine is open-source software provided under the MIT License. It is a general-purpose research tool. Use of this software to make investment decisions is at your own risk. The software authors and ETFWealthIQ are not responsible for any losses incurred.

What ETFWealthIQ is — and is not

ETFWealthIQ is an educational publisher that produces research about portfolio construction methodologies, backtested model portfolios, and investment concepts. It is structured under the publisher’s exclusion (US) and the educational-content framing (Canada).

ETFWealthIQ is

  • A subscription-based educational publication with regular content
  • A provider of model portfolio examples for educational illustration
  • A backtesting tool that computes historical performance of hypothetical allocations
  • A data visualization platform showing historical market behavior
  • An open-source software project that anyone can inspect, modify, or run independently

ETFWealthIQ is not

  • A registered investment adviser, portfolio manager, or financial planner
  • A provider of personalized investment recommendations
  • A discretionary or non-discretionary money manager
  • A trade execution service
  • A provider of personalized tax, legal, or financial advice

What ETFWealthIQ will never do

These structural guardrails are how the educational-publisher posture is enforced in practice, not just stated. They define the hard boundaries of the service.

  1. Never collect personal financial data for recommendation purposes. The IQ Score quiz and Decumulator profile selector assess general categories and output education — they do not provide personalized advice.

  2. Never provide one-on-one portfolio reviews. Community Q&A only. General questions answered publicly.

  3. Never use language that implies obligation. “You should” becomes “investors in this risk category historically have…” “We recommend” becomes “this model portfolio is designed for…” “Buy this” becomes “this Blueprint includes the following allocations.”

  4. Never manage money or execute trades. ETFWealthIQ provides information. The subscriber makes all decisions and executes all trades independently.

  5. Never provide personalized tax advice. Tax education is general (“here’s how RRSP/TFSA asset location works mechanically”). The Asset Location Illustrator uses generic account types, not the subscriber’s actual accounts.

  6. Never frame backtests as predictions. All backtested results are explicitly historical, hypothetical, and accompanied by Monte Carlo uncertainty ranges.

  7. Never personalize Decumulator profiles. The 5 profiles are self-selected by the subscriber based on published descriptors. No dollar amounts, account balances, or income are collected.
