This Cookie Policy explains how ETFWealthIQ uses cookies and similar technologies, the categories we use, and how you can manage them. It works alongside our Privacy Policy.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help the site function, remember your preferences, and understand how the site is used. Some are essential; others are optional and only set with your consent where required.

Legal basis and consent

ETFWealthIQ is operated from Ontario, Canada, and our use of cookies is governed by Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). PIPEDA requires meaningful consent, and the form of consent it expects scales with sensitivity.

Strictly necessary cookies are set without asking, because the Service cannot function without them — a signed-in session cannot be maintained without a session cookie. Analytics and preference cookies are non-essential; where consent is required in your jurisdiction, they are set on the basis of your consent, and declining them leaves the Service fully usable. We do not use cookies for advertising, cross-site tracking, or building profiles for sale, so no cookie here carries the sensitivity that would demand express opt-in under PIPEDA.

Withdrawing consent is available at any time and costs you nothing: the mechanisms in “How to manage or opt out” below take effect immediately, and withdrawal does not restrict access to any part of the Service. We do not treat a declined analytics cookie as a reason to degrade what you can read.

Categories of cookies we use

Strictly necessary

Required for the website to function — for example, maintaining secure sessions, load balancing, and remembering choices you make on consent prompts. These cannot be switched off through our site because the site would not work properly without them.

Analytics

Help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve the educational content. We use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics to collect aggregated, mostly anonymous usage data such as pages viewed, time on page, and referring source. These are optional and can be declined.

Preference

Remember choices you make — such as dismissing a banner or a display preference — so the site feels consistent across visits. These improve your experience but are not essential.

How to manage or opt out

  • Browser controls. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may break parts of the site.
  • Google Analytics opt-out. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all sites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
  • Consent preferences. Where a consent banner is shown, you can change your analytics and preference choices at any time through it.
